A Roscommon company this year partnered with Roscommon Women’s Network’s CycleUp Social Enterprise to meet its Christmas corporate gifting requirements.
Sofa Source International, based in Roscommon Town, has an international client base and is keenly aware of the need to make sustainable gifting a priority as part of its corporate social responsibility. Not only that, but Sofa Source has been donating fabric ends and swatches to CycleUp since the Autumn and many of the beautiful Christmas Gnomes made for the company feature the materials it had donated.
Speaking at the presentation of the order, Mark Gannon CEO at Sofa Source said: “This has been a brilliant project for us to partner up with CycleUp from both an environmental and social aspect. At Sofa Source, we are actively looking for ways to minimise our waste and engage in more circular activities so the fact that we could send our leftover fabric swatches to be upcycled into beautiful gnomes and then purchase these gifts – has truly gone full circle. Also, the fact that we can work with a local social enterprise who do such amazing work for women in Roscommon has been wonderful. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.”
The RWN CycleUp team, now based in the Riverside Centre Athleague, take unwanted waste textiles from their Charity Shop and other sources like Sofa Source and upcycle them into fashion, homeware, and giftware items many of which are on sale through RWN website.
