Karpowership supports orphanages with D620K worth of food items

During the handing over ceremony, 125 bags of 50kg rice, 100 bags of 50kg sugar, 100 gallons of 10 litres of cooking oil and 15 cartons of milk powder were sharedamongSinchu Orphanage, Sankulay Firms in Bwiam and NuroSabakh Foundation.

Karpowership Country Manager Omar Njiestated that the donation is part of their corporate social responsibility to Gambians, especially to the orphanages. He added that from 2018 to date, Karpowership has supported over with Twenty-Five Million Dalasis (D25,000,000) on corporate social responsibility projects.

“2022 and the previous years have been very challenging due to Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war. We hope that 2023 and beyond will bring change and hope. Karpowership welcomed the new year by bringing hope to the young orphans,” Mr Njie said.

He also said Karpowership “gives lots of opportunities” to orphans and vulnerable children, while adding that support for children is paramount to them. Njie said they would continue their support to maintain the good health and education of children.

“We are presenting food items to three orphanage centres, which is worth D620,000. We thank the Government of The Gambia and the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) for giving us the opportunity to serve the Gambian people and to provide the enabling environment to supply power to the country.”  

TolgaBermek, Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia, hailed the two countries’ relationship while stating that Turkey and The Gambia are two brotherly countries and have excellent relations in political, economic and humanitarian issues.

“Our humanitarian relations are a main pillar of our relationship,” the Turkish Ambassador says.“Besides TIKA, Turkish NGOs are organising many services and projects of corporate social responsibility in The Gambia. Karpowership has been one of the biggest Turkish investors in The Gambia and they are very kind in providing corporate social responsibility projects.”

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Muhammeh Ceesay, head of Sinchu Orphanage, expressed delight while thanking the donors for the gestures they usually render to the Gambian people.
