OUAT to hold 39th convocation today

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) Bhubaneswar will hold 39th convocation on Monday. Odisha governor and chancellor of the university Ganeshi Lal will preside over the function.
Honorary doctorate will be conferred upon Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, director general of meteorology, India meteorological department (IMD), and Sabarmatee, organic farming practitioner and proponent.
As many as 821 graduates, 510 postgraduates and 64 PhD scholars will be conferred with degrees in various disciplines. Besides, 113 gold medals and six cash prizes will be awarded for excellence in academic pursuit and co-curricular activities.
The university offers bachelor’s degrees in agriculture, horticulture, veterinary science and animal husbandry, agriculture engineering, community science, fishery science, forestry and basic sciences. Master’s degrees are offered in 51 disciplines and PhD in 36 disciplines by the university.
At present, there are 5,825 students on the roll, of which 50.6 percent are girls.
